Another aim of this project is to invest in the development of the Sporting Opportunities
coaching team. The coaches attend capacity building workshops on a regular basis
improving both coaching skills and related life skills. The relevant courses include
the following learning outcomes, empowering coaches with transferable skills and
qualifications, such as first aid, life skills, leadership, nutrition, careers in
sport, child protection, communication skills and sports administration.
The Sporting Opportunities Knowledge Management Programme provides structured INSET
(in service educational training) training sessions for educators within our under-resourced
partner schools. Our team of coaches mentor and tutor the educators ensuring the
long-term sustainability of the introduction of sports and continued delivery of
relevant and informative sports coaching sessions within our under-resourced partner
schools.
Sporting Opportunities aims to employ qualified coaches or qualify coaches from within the previously disadvantaged communities where the coaching is taking place. A longer term aim of this project is to identify past participants who have progressed along the structured pathway provided by this project, train and qualify them as coaches creating young community leaders.
